Deported Couple Regain Custody After Skype Testimony

D.C. Leadership Program Inspires High School Latinos By Carla P. Roman

For the first time in its history, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) launched the High School Latino Leaders in D.C. Program (HSLLDC).

It welcomed 20 high school students from across the country to tour the capital. The students participated in seminars and workshops that taught them about the federal government, introduced them to political leaders and influenced them to make positive changes in their communities.

Thousands Rally Against Georgia Immigration Law Published

Thousands of marchers stormed the Georgia Capitol on Saturday to protest the state's new immigration law, which they say creates an unwelcome environment for people of color and those in search of a better life.

Men, women and children of all ages converged on downtown Atlanta for the march and rally, cheering speakers while shading themselves with umbrellas and posters from the blazing summer sun.

Capitol police and organizers estimated that between 8,000 and 14,000 protesters gathered.

New Jersey’s first Latino U.S. Marshal is a Monroe Township resident with a long law enforcement career who was approved by the U.S. Senate today, New Jersey’s two senators announced in a news release.

Juan Mattos spent 35 years in the New Jersey State Police, where he rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel, second-in-command of the agency. He retired in 2010 and since worked as an agent for the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
