Denver Diocese's hope for a Latino archbishop may require a miracle

More than half of Catholic Archdiocese of Denver is Latino, and observers say it would make great sense for the successor to Archbishop Charles J. Chaput to be Hispanic.

Hispanics fight for electoral representation in Florida

Orlando – Hispanics have played a big role in the population growth that is bringing Florida two additional seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and Latinos in the Orlando area want to ensure the redistricting process translates their increased presence into political clout.

This process is carried out every 10 years following the census. The 2010 Census showed an increase of 57 percent of the Hispanic population in Florida, making it a bloc capable of influencing the coming elections.

Thousands Rally Against Georgia Immigration Law Published

Thousands of marchers stormed the Georgia Capitol on Saturday to protest the state's new immigration law, which they say creates an unwelcome environment for people of color and those in search of a better life.

Men, women and children of all ages converged on downtown Atlanta for the march and rally, cheering speakers while shading themselves with umbrellas and posters from the blazing summer sun.

Capitol police and organizers estimated that between 8,000 and 14,000 protesters gathered.
